  Roe V. Wade Significance: The Roe V. Case was a decision held on January 22, 1973, in which the United States Supreme Court had struck down a Texas statute which was to ban abortion. After they decided they announced to legalize abortion across the United States. The court stated that a women’s right to have an abortion was implicit in the right to privacy by the 14 th Amendment to the Constitution.  Impact: To this day and especially after that day the case has shown controversy. In other words, Americans remain divided in their support for a women’s right to choose an abortion.  Roe V. Wade Constitutional Question: The Roe V. Wade case was because the Supreme Court is an appellate body, vested with the authority to act in cases arising under the Constitution,  laws , or treaties of the United States.   “Roe has been a good friend, one women could count on when in trouble.   Roe V. Wade Court Decision: The court decision was that the U.S. Constitution does provide “right to privacy” which protects a women’s rights and for them to choose to have an abortion. In addition, the abortion right is not absolute. It has to be balanced against the government’s interest in protecting the woman's health and prenatal life. However, that liberty is not guaranteed absolutely against deprivation, only against deprivation without due process of law.  Roe V. Wade Case Overview Jane Roe which was a fictional name to protect the plaintiff’s identity filed a lawsuit against Henry Wade also known as the district attorney of Dallas County, Texas. In Texas abortion is illegal;   except by a doctor’s orders to save a women’s life. In her lawsuit, she alleged that the state laws were unconstitutionally vague and abridged her right of personal privacy that’s protected by the First, Fourth, Fifth, Ninth, and Fourteenth Amendments.
